The CMA Structure
The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) offers the CMA certification, a professional credential that attests to a person’s expertise in corporate finance, management accounting, and business management, including strategic planning.
In order to become a CMA, a person needs to fulfill several qualifications. This comprises:
- Having completed a bachelor’s degree in any field.
- Two years of management accounting-related employment experience.
- Having a current, standing membership in the IMA.
- Passing the CMA test in both sections within three years after starting the program.
There are two essay questions and 100 multiple-choice questions in each section of the CMA test. You get three hours to finish the multiple-choice questions and one hour to finish the essays.
The CMA Roadmap – Let’s Conquer it With SMA Institute
- The US CMA Exams are administered by the Institute of Management Accountants, the world’s largest management accounting body.
- 12th in India (Associate degree outside India) is required to appear for the US CMA exams.
- Graduation is required to be eligible for a CMA Certification.
- Aspirants pursuing Graduation are also eligible for the US CMA Credential, but they will receive their certification only after completing their Graduation and two years of work experience.
- The US CMA examination pattern consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) as well as essay-type questions.
- The CMA US exam is a single-level assessment comprising two distinct parts: Part 1 and Part 2.
- Part 1 and Part 2 are four-hour tests containing about 100 MCQs (3 hours) and two essay questions (1 hour).
What sets the CMA US exam apart is its unique time allocation feature: any unused time from the MCQ section can be carried forward to the essay section, providing candidates with flexibility and ensuring they can allocate their time effectively across both sections.
- 75% of the examination consists of MCQs (multiple-choice questions), and 25% consists of essay questions.
- The US CMA exams are graded for 500 points, and an aspirant must score a minimum of 360 (72%) to qualify for the exams. Both parts follow the same pattern.
